Mundelein is approximately 40 miles north of Chicago. Residents of this Illinois village in Lake County are close enough to Chicago to enjoy the amenities of a big city and far enough away to enjoy the charms of a small town.
Amenities of family homes with three or four bedrooms include large yards, recreation rooms and finished basements. People who enjoy the theater can attend plays performances at the Kirk Players Theatre. Golfers can play on the 18-hole course at Steeple Chase Golf Club.
There are several grocery stores in Mundelein. Westfield Hawthorn approximately three miles away in Vernon Hills has department stores and specialty shops.
North Central Service trains travel from Mundelein to Chicago's Union Station. Travelers can board Amtrak trains at Union Station. The North Central Service line also stops at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Public transportation in Mundelein and nearby towns is provided by Pace buses.
Three of Mundelein's public schools are part of District 75. Students in kindergarten through second grade attend the Washington Early Learning Center. Mechanics Grove Elementary School has classes for children in the third, fourth and fifth grades. Carl Sandburg Middle School serves students in the sixth through eighth grades. High school students in Mundelein attend Mundelein High School in District 12. The village has one private high school.
